On xmas eve I had nothing particularly planned, so when David invited me to the Aihua dinner, I thought that to be a great evening-filling for me.

We went to a big restaurant called Da Dong Bei (???) one I didn’t know yet and, as I found out there, is a franchise with also a branch near where I live.

Normally dishes at dongbei restaurants come in XL portions, so would a restaurant calling itself da dongbei serve even larger portions?

The answer came when we arrived at the restaurant, a better word would be palace. Everything inside was big and gold-coloured, a big dining-hall downstairs and on top of that 2 floors with private rooms.

We were with 40ppl so had a room upstairs, but when we walked up the stairs, one of the teachers pointed me to the seals swimming below the staircase. Yes, real seals swimming in circles, purely there for the “entertainment” of the diners…

What I think of that? Numb is a word that comes to mind. Numb that I have become for things like this.

Anyways dinner was great with lots and lots of baijiu, the transparent poison. Food was good too, nothing too special, no “strange stuff” although I think that if you pay the right price you can even nibble on one of the two friends downstairs…at least that would put them out of their misery…
