brilliant Chinese quality

Last night I was having dinner with a friend at my home. I had cooked up some pasta and we were munching and chatting.

All of a sudden there was this strange noise, like something was crumbling or falling down or something.

I got up and had a look in both my bathroom and the kitchen, because the noise seemed to come from that direction. However, I couldn’t find anything.

Sat down again, maybe it was at the neighbours. Then, when I took the dishes back to the kitchen I suddenly realised that the entire kitchen floor had raised itself in the middle with about 5cm. All of a sudden my tiled kitchen floor had a ridge in the middle, pfffff.

And I live in this apartment “already” for 3 years. Can you imagine?! I explained to my friend, who seemed a lot less impressed (shocked) than me, that in Europe we have houses with tiled kitchen floors that can survive the test of time for more than 100 years!

So I stamped a couple of times hard on the ridge to make the floor level again, broke and removed a couple of tiles in the meantime, so now my kitchen looks like a complete dump, great!

Called the landlord to make her aware of the problem. And she said that it was ok, nothing to worry about, they had had the same problem already too. When her husband is coming back in a couple of days he would drop by to fix it. FIX IT??? I need a whole new goddamn floor in my kitchen, fucking morons!

This says something again about the way many (not all) Chinese people work: the cheapest materials, the easiest way to make it and just see how long it lasts.

How long will it take them to realise that you can better do something right the first time instead of keeping it fixing over the years and that way waste a lot more time, money….and goodwill…
My guess is another 2-3 generations and apart from that fact that Im not gonna be on this planet anymore then, my best guess is that I won’t last here another 2-3 years!
