Outside of Chengdu, there are few cities in China that have as many advantages as Wuhan.
- It is logistically in a great place with air, rail, national highway, and river transport options all intersecting - in a single location.
- It has a strong history of industry
- It has access to a lot of locally sourced raw materials
Where it went wrong it its development is really anyone’s guess, but the being cut off the export markets that made cities like Wenzhou, Shenzhen, and Dalian had access to was certainly a large hurdle for it to over come.
However, with the days of China being solely dependent on its export products, and in the middle of a transition period of domestic growth, the city of Wuhan is in a great position.
