I can't see my Canadian citizenship becoming much of a chore. I can make a good bit of money abroad before they would even consider taxing it.

My dad on the other hand, who was born in the US and left within a year is cursed with a having discovered a 40 year backlog of taxes about a year and a half ago. Believe me, the IRS can be a real pain in the neck when it chooses.

Well Swiss citizenship isn't so bad.

Unless you're of draftable age.

I'd drop my British nationality like a stack of bricks if it became a burden to me, and I had a better alternative.

I can understand why people do it, why they renounce their citizenship. But, still, even if I were getting killed with taxes, it would be tough. I can't imagine it being easy for a Roman citizen to give up his citizenship at (or close to) the zenith of the empire.
