Departure of another Quacking Canard

Dear fellow members of the Faction of Quacking Canards,

This is a long overdue departure message from me. I have slowly drifted away from this forum since early September this year. My friendship with both Richard and Ivan was the main reason why I returned, even reluctantly, each time after I had intermittently stopped commenting.

If you really want to know, yes, this public announcement of mine has everything to do with Ivan’s departure. I could have drifted away in silence, like what I had done in the past. But I choose not to do so this time. I’m aware of the disagreement between these two good friends of mine. As usual, I try not to take sides. However, this time I do share Ivan’s concern about the grim future of this forum to remain free from self-imposed censorship. Because of that, I can no longer feel safe to speak my mind at TPD and the Duckpond.

I know that I’m not the most popular commenter on this forum. To be honest, I couldn’t give a damn whether you like me or not. But if you still have the slightest respect for me, as an individual with an opinion but not an attitude, then I would like you to respect my wish to walk away without controversy. This will include not dragging my name (or my handle) through any future arguments in this forum.

I’m not commenting here anymore. But I’ll still be reading and monitoring. And I would very much like to be proved wrong about my pessimistic assessment of this forum. Until then - farewell my quacking friends!
