Wen Jiao Bao's Full Speech To Harvard University 3 Years Ago

EDIT: Far too long. As was said below, either quote something to make a point or just provide the link. Raj
NET ETIQUETTE, PIGSUN.
You are about the only TPD commentator who wastes bandwidth posting cut-and-paste stories from other webpages. Why bother providing the link if you're going to cut and paste the whole long piece? Next time, please just give us a summary or an excerpt? Don't start screaming about censorship if admin edits your post. It has nothing to do with content and everything to do with proper net etiquette.
I read the article, very nice. I especially loved the part where Wen said the reason CHina cannot have democracy is because the people aren't educated enough. I'm sick and tired of this "our citizens are too stupid" crap!!!! If that were true, why are so many other countries with MUCH lower education standards are able to hold elections? This excuse is disgusting, because its subjectiveness makes it usable for basically eternity. His little speal about his mother teaching him to be honest made me puke in my throat.

You puke in your throat? This is dangerous, it maybe larynx cancer. http://www.webmd.com/hw/cancer/ncicdr0000258016-general-information-abou...
This could already be the late stage! Quickly!

That's what the elites of all autocracies/dictatorships say about the common people. It's an excuse to keep them in place. In reality how well educated someone is does not have that much influence on how well they select their leaders.
I would say a massive proportion of "educated" middle-class Chinese are selfish and naive. Whereas a lot of poorer people seem to be properly switched on, because what goes on in officialdom affects them more directly. So if anything the rural poor should have the vote, as they know what problems China is facing - the richer idiots know nothing of suffering, so they have no moral authority to decide what needs to be done to the country.
Wen Jiabao has no reason to lecture poor Chinese like that - they know more about China's problems than he does in many respects. Thus they have a right to be heard.
