No freedom of speech, unless it's to abuse Australians

I'm in Italy now and everyone is talking about CCTV commentator Huang Jianxiang who said, while the Oz PM was in town during the match against he Italians,
"Long Live Italy! I don't like team Australia!"
"It was an undisputed penalty, Grosso made it! He made it! Don't give Australia any chance! Great Italian left defender. Grosso alone represents the long and deep tradition of Italian soccer. He is not fighting alone."

"Totti! He is about to take the shot. He shoulders the expectations of the whole world. It's a goal! Game over! Italy didn't fall to Hiddink's team this time! Long live Italy!"

Then Huang attacked the Australian team: "Go home! But they don't need to fly back to Australia, which is too far away. Most of them live in Europe. Bye-bye."

After, far from apologising, Huang said "I am a human being, not a machine, and I can't be impartial all the time. Australia reminded me of a lousy team which eliminated China in the World Cup qualifiers in 1981. Australia is just like New Zealand team that beat us in 1981."

This isn't the first time he was allowed to carry on like that. Can you imagine how 'hurt the feelings of the Chinese people' would be if the show was on the other foot?

I fixed it...we all make mistakes sometimes, even me.

I don't know about you, but when I watch a soccer game on TV, I'd like the commentator to be energetic and lively. That's why I prefer to watch the games on Spanish channels rather than ESPN, simply because the commentators make me feel that he is also enjoying the game, even though I have no idea what he's saying.

Also, just to clarify, CCTV did open criticize Huang Jianxiang and Huang Jianxiang was forced to openly apologize and was suspended from commenting the next game which he was scheduled to comment on.

Zhang Bin, the director of CCTV Sports Channel, criticised this incident in four Chinese words: Huang at first lost his voice (失声), then lost his cool (失) and lost his politeness (失礼), and finally lost his mind (失常).

Oh. He won't comment for the next game. So that's that, then.
