Since our arrival here in China two years ago we've been surprised by the vast number of Filipinos that teach English here in Xinjiang. It feels like there are just as many Filipinos who have relocated to China as there are Americans, although I doubt that's true in the bigger cities.

So while you're enjoying your day off for Labor Day, we just finished our first day of hard labor known as school and we both have to admit that we're pretty tired. We're seasoned veterans now that we've been doing this for a couple of years now, but because we are now the only two foreigners (i.e. "Americans") working at the school, we're having to cover the same classes taught by 4 people with only the two of us.

Continuing our presentation of the daily food we eat here in Xinjiang, we will now introduce you to our good friend Mr. Lamb. Now before Tiff and I arrived here in China we had never eaten lamb before - and mom's lamb-shaped cake for Easter doesn't count. Needless to say, new meats are always an interesting experience, and lamb is no exception.

So it's no secret that America in general is a much heavier nation than China, even though McDonalds and KFC are trying their best to fix this. However, because these fast food options aren't readily available to us here in Xinjiang (there isn't a McDonald's anywhere and KFC is too expensive!) we've actually lost a lot of weight since moving here two years ago. We eat healthier, eat less, and walk everywhere.

Olympics Medals: Weighing Gold, Silver & Bronze

Despite disappointing losses by USA's track teams, women's softball, and women's water polo (well let's face it...was anybody really disappointed?), the US still leads in the overall medal count even while China continues to dominate the gold medal race.
